About our CPD Programmes

SWIFT CPD Programmes represent great opportunities for schools and trusts to access high quality courses. Our CPD is:

  • A combination of the best of local, national and available evidence.
  • Needs-led: prioritising needs identified by schools and trusts that are not already covered by existing providers.
  • Partnership-led: SWIFT partners design, develop and support delivery
  • High valued by schools and trusts, with high uptake from across the area
  • Great value for money: course fees are typically well below market equivalents and great discounts are available for SWIFT Members.

Each of the CPD Series developed by SWIFT is designed to meet 8 quality standards - The SWIFT 8.

Subject Masterclasses

The Subject Masterclass Series provides in-depth subject development, focusing on subject pedagogy, curriculum design and assessment. Design and delivery is in partnership with leading national experts like David Didau (English), Rachel Hawkes (Languages) and Science (Adam Boxer).  A Masterclass series is typically 4-6 twilight sessions targeted at teachers and subject leaders.

Teaching and Learning Series

In this series, teachers and leaders are invited to develop high quality approaches to teaching and learning. For 2022-2023 we are working in collaboration with Tom Sherrington and the WalkThrus programme. In addition, Kingsbridge Research School provide high quality sesison based on latest EEF guidance reports.

Literacy and Oracy Series

Plymouth Oracy Project offers schools and trusts a wider range of options for 2022-2023, including further development for those schools that have already completed training and a new programme for secondary schools. In addition to Oracy, this series prioritises supporting teachers with primary writing and moderation.

Exam Series

Covering 12 of the most popular AQA GCSE courses, this series provides in-depth feedback on the examination papers from the 2022 GCSE exams. AQA trainers will use exemplar work to give feedback on student performance and highlight common areas in which students did well and less well.
