The Royal Academy of Engineering would like to invite teachers of STEM subjects to an online meeting of CPD, networking and sharing of good practice. This meeting is for teachers looking to develop the STEM curriculum in their school and build the knowledge and confidence to engage more pupils with STEM learning.
After the meeting, participating teachers will receive a unique code to order a resource box containing the requested number of individual pupil packs. More details about the most recent resource box is below.
This is Engineering: Sustainable Futures
Some of the biggest challenges we face stem from how we interact with our environment, and engineering is at the heart of finding sustainable solutions. From renewable power to recycling, to making our homes more energy efficient, this is a vital field. Challenges in this STEM resource invite learners to explore some of these important and pressing challenges that we face as a society and to act and think like engineers as they come up with their own solutions to a sustainable innovation design challenge.
The sustainable innovation design challenge will form part of a competition where we want to see the sustainable design innovations from teams of students from across the UK. Shortlisted teams will have the opportunity to bring their innovations to life with prizes from the Academy; as well as being invited to showcase their work at the Connecting STEM Teachers 10 year celebration event next summer.
The competition will launch in September.
Those attending will receive free training on the Academy’s latest resource: This is Engineering: Sustainable Futures. Teachers will receive a box containing teacher and student guides and distributable packs of equipment and materials to deliver these activities to your pupils, whether they are in school or learning remotely.
In order to guarantee a resource box, please complete this form or email Michael Cronk, Head of Computer Science at Colyton Grammar School Academy Trust, Teacher Coordinator on behalf of the Royal Academy of Engineering Connecting STEM Teachers programme (CPD Quality Mark - Associate Facilitator, STEM Learning).
Resource boxes will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
If you are unable to attend, any STEM-related teacher from your school can attend to receive the training and resources.
